In pickleball, the shoulder you look over depends on your court positioning and the side of the court you are playing from.
- Forehand Side (Right-Side for Right-Handed Players): If you are positioned on the right side of the court (forehand side) and the ball is coming towards you from the left side of the court, you will look over your left shoulder to track the ball. This allows you to maintain awareness of the ball’s trajectory and position yourself to hit the shot with your forehand.
- Backhand Side (Left-Side for Right-Handed Players): If you are positioned on the left side of the court (backhand side) and the ball is coming towards you from the right side of the court, you will look over your right shoulder to track the ball. This helps you set up for a backhand shot.
For left-handed players, the directions are reversed. If you are a left-handed player positioned on the right side of the court, you will look over your right shoulder for forehand shots and over your left shoulder for backhand shots.
It’s essential to keep your head up and your eyes on the ball during pickleball to maintain good court awareness and react quickly to your opponent’s shots. Additionally, communicate effectively with your partner on the court to coordinate your movements and cover different areas of the court efficiently.
