Do You Have To Undress For Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy?

Not always. Regardless if you need to undress during pelvic floor physical therapy depends on the type of evaluation or treatment you’re receiving.

When You Might Stay Fully Clothed

For most initial consultationsexternal assessments, you can stay fully clothed or wear comfortable athletic wear. These sessions often include posture checks, breathing techniques, & muscle coordination exercises, all done over your clothing.

When Undressing May Be Needed

If your treatment involves internal assessment or manual therapy (vaginal or rectal), partial undressing will be necessary.

  • You’ll only undress from the waist down when needed

  • A private room & draping (like a sheet or gown) will be provided

  • Your consent is always required before any internal work begins

  • You can decline any part of treatment you’re not comfortable with

What To Expect

Your therapist will explain each step clearly before proceeding. They’ll prioritize your comfort, answer all questions, & never rush you into anything you’re not ready for.
