Keeping hydrated is always a good idea. It may not directly help, but having your body hydrated is important for the body’s healing process. To know if you are drinking enough water, for an adult, typically you want to be urinating about once every 2-3 hours. If you have gone 4 or more hours without urinating, you know you should be drinking more water. A gallon a day for the average adult is about right.
