What Do You Wear For Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy?

When attending pelvic floor physical therapy, it’s best to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing, similar to what you’d wear for a light workout or yoga session. While some sessions involve movement or gentle exercises, others may focus on relaxation, manual therapy, or education.

Ideal Clothing Options…

  • Stretchy pants or leggings (for easy movement)

  • Loose shorts (especially if internal or external pelvic exams are planned)

  • A comfortable top or t-shirt

  • Sports bra (if preferred for modesty during movement-based assessments)

What If an Internal Exam Is Involved?

If internal therapy is part of your session (vaginal or rectal), your therapist will…

  • Explain everything in advance

  • Give you privacy to change

  • Use draping to protect your comfort

  • Only proceed with your full consent

You will not be required to fully undress unless an internal assessment is part of your treatment & you agree to it.
